A STUDY IN GREEN

The Many Moods of Green

A collection inspired by the many moods of green — from grounding forest tones to vibrant chartreuse accents.

I've always been drawn to green. Not just one version of it, but all the subtle shifts. The deep, layered tones that feel grounded and quietly confident such as Moss, Olive and Forest, right through to the bright verdant shades full of energy and optimism like Absinthe, Lime and Chartreuse.

Recently, while reading The Secret Lives of Colour by Kassia St Clair, the chapter on Absinthe described a green that is complex and slightly rebellious. The pale emerald aperitif became so popular in France in the latter half of the nineteenth century that whole districts of Paris were said to smell faintly herbal between the hours of 5–6pm, a time that came to be known as l'heure verte, or 'the green hour'.

In the workroom, I am always reaching for Chartreuse. Sitting exactly midway between green and yellow, this is hands down my favourite accent colour. A real colour chameleon, it combines beautifully with both warm and cool palettes.

This edit brings together all of my favourite greens — tailored green cushions, piping fabrics, green wallpaper and thoughtful giftware — each one with its own depth and personality. Layer them together, or let one take the lead. Green has a way of settling into a space and making it feel complete.
