The Couturier stocks a large selection of decorative linens, printed velvets, pretty cottons, jacquards, embroideries and more; vintage fabrics to contemporary designs and everything in between. With access to leading international design houses the options are almost endless.
For the back....
Our collection of stock plains has been thoughtfully selected to coordinate beautifully with statement fabrics, accentuating the colour palette and making the design process easy and more cost effective too.
With more than 50 stock velvets and linen blends to choose from there's sure to be a perfect coordinate on hand.
TRIMS
Add personality through detail — contrast piping, fringes, braided cord or pompoms to elevate the final piece.
Velvet piping is all made in-house, with a large colourful selection of other decorative trims available to order on request.
SPECIALTY
For something truly bespoke — turn your completed tapestry or other stitched works into unique statement cushions.

inners
Each cushion is filled with an ethically sourced feather inner for a soft, luxurious and beautifully plump finish. Feather inners are chosen for both comfort and quality, ensuring your cushion feels as good as it looks.
A generous fill is the standard to create a considered shape, with the option to adjust for a firmer or more relaxed feel on request. Need an odd size? No problem - any size you need can be supplied.
Polyester fill is not offered, favouring feathers for their comfort, longevity and lower environmental impact.

Frequently Asked Questions
Yes you can. Many designs can be adapted to different sizes, piping, backing fabrics and finishing details.
If you see something you love, it can be tailored to suit your needs.
In most cases the price of the customised cushion will differ to the listed version. If it is a simple change of piping or backing colour you can expect approximately an additional $20-$30 per cushion.

Absolutely. Becky is happy to work with supplied furnishing fabrics and sentimental textiles.
You can provide fabric for all of the cushion, or work with a mixture of your fabric and the stocked fabrics and trims at the workroom.
You can use almost any fabric for the back of your cushion however our preferred formula uses a sturdy furnishing velvet or cotton/linen blend in a block colour.
These are selected to complement the statement fabric on the front while offering a well priced pointed option for the back.
There are more than 50 plains stocked in the workroom, and any colour of the rainbow your heart desires can be ordered if there’s not the perfect match available in the stocked range.
If you want the statement fabric on both the front and the back, no problem - a quote can be arranged for you.
Custom cushions are all quoted individually and made up of 5 components:
1. The fabric on the front
2. The fabric on the back
3. The make charge; varies depending on the size and style. Starting from $49
4. Any trims selected such as piping cord or fringing
5. The feather inner if required
Once your requirements have been worked through, a tailored price can be provided for your custom cushion.
